Steele, MO man facing rape charges

STEELE, MO (KFVS) - The Steele Police Department reports a 52-year-old was arrested for allegedly raping a 33-year-old woman.

Police Chief Billy Stanfield said Steele resident Hubert Lee Johnson was arrested in connection to an alleged rape at a home on McCollum Street.

The department began investigating the incident after receiving a call in the early morning hours on Monday, June 15.

The 33-year-old victim was transported to the hospital to get treatment for her injuries.

Steele Police filed a report with the Pemiscot County Prosecuting Attorney.

A warrant was issued, charging Johnson with rape or attempted rape in the first degree, assault in the first degree and armed criminal action.

Johnson is being held in the Pemiscot County Jail on a $200,000 bond.
