IL Army National guard soldier accused of criminal sexual abuse

ILLINOIS (KFVS) -

Illinois State Police arrested an Illinois Army National Guard soldier on Thursday.

Staff Sergeant Michael R. Evrley, of Pana, Ill., was arrested on a warrant for aggravated criminal sexual abuse. His bond was set at $50,000.

According to ISP, Evrley was arrested on Thursday, May 7 at the Illinois Department of Correction's Academy where he was attending cadet training to become a corrections officer.

They say the charges stem from alleged incidents in Christian County involving a female juvenile.

The allegations were originally brought to ISP by Illinois National Guard officials.

Evrley is currently in the Sangamon County Jail.

The Illinois Appellate Prosecutor's Office is prosecuting the case and the investigation is ongoing.
