Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall in New Madrid

NEW MADRID, MO (KFVS) -

There is a chance for you to visit the traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall in New Madrid, Missouri.

The wall is a 4/5 the size of the actual memorial in Washington DC.

The wall is being on display at the Scott Street walking track.

Visitors can visit the wall 24 hours a day and there will be people available to help you find specific names.

Many of the posts in VFW District 15 helped bring the wall to New Madrid.

“This year marks 50 years that combat troops were introduced into Vietnam and 40 years from the time we pulled out of Vietnam,” said Gary Riley, with the VFW Post 7183. “It seemed like this year it needed to be done and since it had never been south of Sikeston in the Missouri Bootheel so we just thought we needed to bring it down, got to work and got it here.”

The traveling memorial will be in New Madrid until Sunday.
