Sheriff: 2-year-old found wandering around, mom asleep

GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

The Graves County Sheriff's office says a woman is facing charges after a 2-year-old boy was found wandering around outside.

Sheriff Dewayne Redmon says the sheriff's office received a call from a homeowner on Central Road saying there was a small boy in their backyard.

The caller said the child was just wearing a shirt and that they did not know where he had come from.

After about 40 minutes, deputies identified home where they thought the child might belong.

After knocking on the door, deputies were let in by a 3-year-old girl.

The mother of both children was located asleep in a bedroom.

When questioned about where her two year old son was, the mother did not know.

Deputies also noticed a baggy of a green, leafy substance that the woman told them was marijuana, as well as drug paraphernalia.

It was learned that the child had crossed Central Road in order to get to where he was found.

The woman was arrested for wanton endangerment 1st degree, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Social services placed the children with family members.
