Mayfield man faces drug charges

MAYFIELD, KY (KFVS) - A Mayfield, KY man is in custody for reportedly driving while impaired.

According to the Graves County Sheriff's Department, Stevie Harpole, 32, was pulled over on Tuesday after traveling at a high rate of speed on St Rt 45.

The sheriff's department reports, deputy George Workman made pulled the driver over because he was afraid Harpole would not be able to stop at an upcoming stop sign.

Workman reports he also noticed the vehicle was swerving and when he stopped the vehicle, Harpole appeared to be under the influence of something other than alcohol.

After several field sobriety tests, Workman arrested Harpole for a DUI and other related traffic offenses.

During a search, Workman found a set of digital scales that had both a white residue and some green leafy residue.

The sheriff's department reports the greed leafy residue is believed to be marijuana and the white residue tested positive for methamphetamine.

Harpole was taken to the Graves County Jail.

He is facing a handful of traffic related charges, as well as DUI in the first offense, and possession of marijuana and a controlled substance.
