Students use steampunk lamps to pay for mission trip

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Here's a bright idea to pay for a school trip.

A student at Prodigy Leadership Academy in Cape Girardeau, Missouri came up with the idea for these lamps.

He calls them "steampunk lamps."

Now he and his classmates have put them up for sale.

"The money is going towards our mission trip,” said John Grammar, lamp creator. “Some of us will be going to Honduras the summer or we'll be serving his teacher assistances, so that's what all the proceeds are going towards. And (we) will do that yearly because each year a group of eighth graders go to Honduras."

“Our goal is to sell about up to $800 worth of lamps and that be great if we could reach that,” said student Wyatt Gerard.

If you want to buy one of these lamps and help out the kids, here's an email address.
