Union County state's attorney releases 2014 report

JONESBORO, IL (KFVS) -

Union County State's Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds on Wednesday released the State's Attorney's Office 2014 annual report. 

"The services provided by the State's Attorney's Office are only possible because of a dedicated staff and the efforts of law enforcement and other agencies such as the Department of Children and Family Services and the Child Advocacy Center," said Edmonds. "I hope this Annual Report increases public awareness of the hard work of these individuals while also providing important information regarding the efforts of this office in 2014."

Edmonds noted accomplishments, such as:

  • A Murphysboro man was sentenced to 12 years for unlawful possession of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver.
  • An Anna man was sentenced to 10 years for aggravated criminal Sexual assault and unlawful restraint.
  • A Jonesboro man was sentenced to 10 years for Possession of Stolen Vehicle.
  • A Jonesboro man was sentenced to seven years for attempting to disarm sheriff's deputy.
  • A Wolf Lake woman was sentenced to two years and ordered to pay over $200,000 in restitution for thefts from Wolf Lake community organizations and units of local government.
  • An Alto Pass man was committed for 51 years for predatory criminal sexual abuse of a child and aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
  • Obtained over $400,000 in grants for juvenile justice programs to provide services to at-risk youth.

During 2014, the State's Attorney's Office filed 280 felony cases compared to 241 in 2013.
