'Marketeers Club' to return to Cape Girardeau Riverfront Market

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Beginning on May 9, Cape Girardeau Marketeers Club will begin at the Cape Riverfront Market.

The Cape Marketeers Club will begin it's 3rd year at the Cape Riverfront Market with an activity entitled "If it's Green It's Good" where "marketeers" will explore green vegetables and the benefits from eating them.

The Marketeers Club is a free educational program for kids 5-12 years old that takes place on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays May through August from 8 a.m.-noon.

Marketeers earn $2 in market tokens each time they participate to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at the market.

Activities generally fall into three categories: science, nutrition or food growing.

Dr. Rachel Morgan-Theall, Chemistry Professor at Southeast Missouri State University, conducts the chemistry activities and many other professors and dietitians conduct the activities.

The club is funded in part by the American Chemical Society and the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services through Healthy Environments and Active Lifestyles.

The Cape Marketeers Club is a Cape Riverfront Market program.

The Cape Riverfront Market is under the umbrella of Old Town Cape.
