Steele man accused of spitting in officer's face

STEELE, MO (KFVS) -

A Steele man is accused of assaulting a police officer and having methamphetamine.

Rickey Tomlin, 42, of Steele is charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and felony assault on law enforcement. 

Steele police responded to a home on North First Street on May 3 after a domestic disturbance report.

Steele Police Chief Billy Joe Stanfield says an officer found Tomlin in possession of meth.

While the officer was trying to arrest Tomlin, Chief Stanfield says Tomlin became aggressive, spit in the officers' face and swung his fist toward the officers' head.

Tomlin was handcuffed and taken to the Pemiscot County Jail. His bond was set at $100,000.
