4 injured in western KY 2 vehicle crash

The Kentucky State Police investigated a two-vehicle injury collision on Sunday.

It happened on US 641 south of Fredonia around 10:15 a.m.

The preliminary investigation by state police showed that a 72-year-old Fredonia man was driving northbound on US 641 when he appeared to have had a medical emergency, and lost control of the vehicle.

The man's vehicle traveled into the southbound lane where it collided with a Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 35-year-old Sturgis, Kentucky man.

The man's vehicle then struck a ditch on the northbound shoulder causing his vehicle to overturn.

The first vehicle left the southbound shoulder of the roadway and hit a utility pole.

The 72-year-old Fredionia man was taken by ambulance to the Crittenden County Hospital for treatment.

The Sturgis man, along with his wife and a 3-year-old, were taken by ambulance to the Caldwell County Hospital for treatment. A 7-year-old in the vehicle was not injured during the collision.

Everyone involved were wearing seat belts.

The Caldwell County Sheriff's Department, Fredonia Fire Department, Princeton Fire Department, and Caldwell County EMS assisted at the scene.
