CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Cape Riverfront Market's opening day brought in roughly twice as many people compared to last year's opening day.

Around 25 vendors were on hand Saturday morning ranging anywhere from cinnamon buns, garden plants, fruits and vegetables.

The Southeast Missouri Steel Drum Band were also on hand giving the market some festive entertainment.

The volunteer driven market also features the Cape Marketeers Club.

This is a free program for kids that focuses on nutrition, science, and growing food.

The educational experiments and activities are every second and fourth Saturday from May through August.

The event brought in an estimated 600-700 people in attendance on Saturday.
