MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

A man was in court on Thursday in connection to charges involving inappropriate texting of a minor.

According to the McCracken County Courthouse, Frederick Daack, 54, of West Paducah, Kentucky pleaded not guilty to charges involving a minor during an arraignment hearing on Thursday.

A pretrial is set for June 8.

According to the sheriff's office, an investigation that began on March 10 led to the Indictment by a grand jury in April.

Daack faces several felony indictments charging him with the unlawful Use of an electronic device to procure a minor in a sexual performance.

It was learned by officers that Daack was elder at the Milburn Chapel Church for the past several years, but that role ended last year.

Authorities say incidents were allegedly committed while Daack was an elder.

The investigation revealed that during a period of time between October 2012 and January 2013, Daack had illegal and inappropriate communications by phone and via text messages with a juvenile that attended the church.

The contact and communication was sexual in nature, according to authorities.

These instances were uncovered by sheriff's detectives while conducting their investigation into the Michael Parsons incident. The former youth pastor faces rape charges.
