Carbondale man sentenced for stealing 2 vehicles

CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) -

The Jackson County State's Attorney says a Carbondale man pleaded guilty stealing two vehicles.

That's according to State's Attorney news release.

Bernard D. Adams, 45, of Carbondale was convicted in Jackson County Circuit Court of two counts of possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

He was sentenced to serve 16 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on each count.

Adams will serve a three year period of mandatory supervised release upon his release. The sentences were ordered to run concurrently.

Adams was accused of ramming into a vehicle while he was driving a stolen car. He was also accused of stealing a newspaper delivery truck.

This investigation was conducted by the Carbondale Police Department, with assistance from the Marion Police Department and Williamson County Sheriff's Department.

Assistant State's Attorney Casey Bloodworth prosecuted this case.
