Man wanted for 3 homicides in MI arrested in West Frankfort

WEST FRANKFORT, IL (KFVS) - A man wanted in connection with the homicides of three people found in a burned car in Michigan was arrested in West Frankfort on Sunday.

Kenneth Daniel Brunke from Manistique, Mich. is suspected in the deaths of Jody Hutchinson, 42 of Gould City, Mich. and sisters Carrie Nelson, 31, and Heather Aldrich, 25, of the Newberry, Mich. area.

Their bodies were found in a burned vehicle on April 17 in Schoolcraft County, Mich.

Brunke was developed as a person of interest and was believed to be in the West Frankfort area.

After Michigan State Police contacted the West Frankfort Police Department, officers began a 24 hour a day surveillance beginning April 24 on the home where Brunke's vehicle was found.

According to West Frankfort Police Chief Shawn Talutto, the suspect was staying with his daughter and son-in-law.

When arrest warrants for Brunke on three counts of homicide were issued, officers arrested Brunke Sunday as he stepped outside to survey storm damage from the previous night.

Brunke was taken to the Franklin County Jail and held without bond on the Michigan State warrants for three counts of homicide.
