CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

The Missouri State Highway Patrol has released the name of the man who died in an early morning crash in Cape Girardeau County.

The accident happened at the intersection of Highway 72 and County Road 350 one mile west of Millersville, Missouri at around 2:40 a.m.

James W. Koehler, 48 of Millersville was driving, when his pickup truck ran off the road and hit a utility pole.

The truck rolled over at least once and landed on its side.

Missouri State Patrol says Koehler was not wearing a seat belt.

Dispatchers called for mutual aid shortly after the first crews arrived on the scene, saying a person was trapped inside the truck.

Crews from both Cape Girardeau and Jackson helped with the extrication of the driver.

Koehler was pronounced dead at the scene by Cape Girardeau County Coroner John Clifton.

Utility crews were called out to help because the accident caused some power lines to fall into the roadway.

Missouri Highway Patrol is investigating, but so far has not said what may have caused the crash.
