Sheriff: Belligerent woman found in shed, taken to jail

WATER VALLEY, KY (KFVS) -

Graves County Sheriff Dewayne Redmon reports that on Friday April 24, deputies responded to a residence on KY 943 in Water Valley, Kentucky in reference to a suspicious person in a shed.

A 15-year-old and her siblings were at home and reported someone in their shed close to the house.

While deputies were on the way to the home, the children reported that the person was yelling and screaming.

Upon arrival deputies located a woman in the shed and she became very belligerent.

The woman was taken into custody.

She refused to give deputies or deputy jailers any identification.

The female was taken to the Graves County Jail as “Jane Doe.”

She was charged with burglary 3rd degree, public intoxication (drugs and alcohol), and resisting arrest.

An investigation showed the woman to be Mechell Whiteman, 48, of Martin, Tennessee.

Weakley County Sheriff's deputies were contacted and assisted in identifying Whiteman.

With the assistance of Weakley County deputies, and identifiers they have from prior dealings with her sister, it was determined that this was in Whiteman.
