1 taken into custody after hit and run in western KY

MAYFIELD, KY (KFVS) -

Authorities say one person was taken into custody stemming from a hit and run in Graves County, Kentucky.

Sandy Hutson of Mayfield was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, criminal mischief 3rd degree, failure to notify transportation cabinet of address change and failure of owner to maintain insurance 1st offense.

According to the sheriff, deputies responded to a vehicle collision with injuries at the intersection of US 45N and Jackson Purchase Parkway on Saturday around 2:40 p.m.

Melissa Seay of Mayfield was sitting at stop light and was struck in the back of her vehicle by a white pick-up that she described as “beat up.”

The driver of the white truck cut through the grassy area of the onramp and fled north on the parkway.

Seay complained of neck pain and has had recent neck surgery. Seay was checked by EMS and refused transport to the hospital.

Deputies were able to find the truck and driver on Lumber Road in Mayfield after searching for about an hour.

The vehicle was towed and impounded.

Deputies were assisted by Mayfield/Graves County EMS at the scene.
