BENTON, MO (KFVS) -

Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter says a Sikeston man is facing charges after an incident on Friday.

Jeremy B. Pearson, 35, of Sikeston, Missouri has been charged with unlawful use of drug paraphernalia and property damage.

When deputies arrived to a home on Stone Drive they were told Pearson caused a disturbance because he believed to have an active warrant.

Once Pearson found out the sheriff's office was called, he left the home on foot and slammed the front door. This caused the glass to break in the front door.

Pearson was later found by the deputies hiding near a pump house west of the home.

After a search, a syringe was found in Pearson's pocket.

The sheriff's office says Pearson admitted the syringe was used to ingest methamphetamine.

Authorities say the syringe had a clear liquid inside of it, which tested positive for methamphetamine.

Pearson was taken to the Scott County Jail. Pearson was booked in the jail pending the filing of formal chargers by the Scott County prosecuting attorney.

Bond was set by the court at $2,500 cash only.
