Columbus-Belmont State Park and Wickliffe Mounds State Historic Site will celebrate Kids Day on May 16.

Kids Day is determined by the National Park Trust to organize a day of play in community parks and discover history and nature.

In Columbus, Kentucky, the Columbus-Belmont State Park will offer games, hiking, mini-golf and a free visit to the park museum.

The park is on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi River.

It is the site of Confederate fortification during the Civil War.

Cannon, earthworks and the remains of a large chain that stretched across the river are on display.

North of Columbus in Wickliffe the state historic site will have outdoor games among the mounds and guests will make Mississippian Indian-style necklaces to take home.

Prices are reduced for the Wickliffe Mounds State Historic Site.

The park is open from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on May 16.
