Missouri family in need of service dog

(KFVS) - A dog could be the help a Missouri girl needs to cope with her serious medical condition.

Her family is hoping the community can make it possible.

It's difficult to keep track of 4-year-old Belle Enos. She is constantly on the move.

But, there is reason her mom will always have an eye on her.

"It's hard. It really is,” said her mom, Julie Kerns.

Belle was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at age two.

Her mom says she has several seizures a week, anytime and anywhere and worry is her constant companion.

"You're constantly wanting to check her blood sugar, constantly wanting to be with her,” she said.

She says having a service dog would be a lifesaver for Belle.

"If she doesn't take care of her highs and take care of her lows, that dog will sit there and hound her until she does,” said Kern.

A trained dog can detect seizures almost two minutes before they happen and get help.

But they're not cheap, costing upwards of $25,000.

It's a small price that would give Belle's family peace of mind.

Belle's family has already raise over $1,000 for their cause.

The family has also set up an account at Montgomery Bank.
