Piedmont man crashes 2 vehicles, leads police on chase

A man from Piedmont is facing several charges after leading police on a chase through Wayne and Reynolds counties Thursday night.

According to Wayne County Sheriff Dean Finch, 49-year-old John H. Wicker wrecked his vehicle around 7:30 p.m. on County Road 359, about a quarter mile from Wicker's home.

As an officer was headed to the scene, Finch says Wicker went to his home and took off in his truck because he had a felony probation warrant.

According to Finch, Wicker then led police on an hour-long chase that also involved Reynolds County deputies, the Missouri State Highway Patrol and Piedmont Police.

The chase ended on County Road 359 where Wicker wrecked his car into a tree just before 9 p.m.

Finch says Wicker had minor injuries to his face and is now in custody at the Wayne County Jail.

Wicker is facing charges of driving while intoxicated, careless and imprudent driving involving an accident, no valid driver's license and assault on a law enforcement officer.
