The transportation cabinet says there is a multi-vehicle crash with a fire blocking the westbound lanes of Interstate 24 at the 89 mile marker in Christian County on Thursday afternoon.
Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) spokesman Keith Todd says the crash involves a tractor trailer hauling chickens, an RV, and another vehicle.
Westbound I-24 is being detoured via KY 115 North to KY 109, then to KY 1453 and US 41-Alternate to return to I-24 westbound at Exit 86.
Westbound traffic backed up to about the Kentucky-Tennessee state line at the 93 mile marker, that is as of 4 p.m.
Eastbound traffic is moving about 10 mph at the crash site with about a two mile backup on that side.
There is quite a bit of fire residue stuck to the pavement due to the fire.
Cleanup could take up to 6 p.m.
