Man accused of pointing gun at other man in hospital parking lot

MARION, IL (KFVS) -

A man was arrested after police say he pointed a gun at another man on Tuesday, April 21.

Gola R. Eckles, 74, was charged with aggravated assault with a handgun.

According to Marion, Illinois police, at about 1:05 p.m. they were dispatched to Heartland Regional Medical Center in reference to a man pointing a gun at another man. They say the suspect then left the scene.

Police say the suspect was identified as Eckles. They say he was at the hospital and the victim was trying to park his car when Eckles pulled into the parking spot in front of the victim.

Police say the victim got out of his car and asked Eckles what the problem was.

Eckles allegedly took a revolver out of his pocket, pointed it at the victim and told him he was going to kill him. Eckles then left.

Marion police found Eckles and pulled him over.

They say he consented to a search of his vehicle.

According to police, they found a black revolver in the trunk of the vehicle.
