IHSA to vote on rules to limit contact in football practice

BLOOMINGDALE, Ill. (AP) -

The Illinois High School Association is expected to vote in June on new rules that would limit the amount of full-contact practice allowed for high school football teams.

The IHSA governs high school sports in the state. It said its board of directors discussed the proposals Tuesday and now will seek feedback before voting June 15.

The plan would limit teams to three days of live-contact practice a week. Players would also be barred from having more than one full-contact practice a day.

The changes would take effect ahead of the 2015 football season.
