POPE COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - Pope County Coroner Mark Aly confirms the body found in One Horse Gap Lake is that of missing teenager Kyle Brown.

He had been missing since late December.

An autopsy performed Sunday shows no foul play in his death.

Brown was identified through dental records.

The coroner said they are still waiting on toxicology reports to come back.

According to Pope County Sheriff Jerry Suits, Brown was found after two cars were located in One Horse Gap Lake in Northern Pope County Friday evening.

Team Watters Sonar Search and Recovery were on the lake searching with sonar equipment on Friday when they found the two vehicles in the lake and called authorities.

Dennis Watters, founder of the search and recovery team, runs the non-profit organization that provided its services free at the request of Kyle's mother Tina.

“In this case no one had any idea what direction to look in and to find him in just a couple of days worth of work was pretty darn lucky," Watters said.

Leroy Sparks, visiting the One Horse Gap Lake from Robinson, Ill. -- Said he was shocked when police came to the area to extract the vehicle.

“It was a bit scary because you didn't know exactly what was going on," Sparks said.

The sheriff says he got the call around 5 p.m. and deputies arrived at the scene to investigate.

The sheriff requested divers with Illinois State Police to confirm there were vehicles in the lake.

Both vehicles were recovered out of the water.

The sheriff says Brown's body was found in one of the vehicles.

The vehicle the body was found in was similar to the vehicle Kyle Brown was driving when he went missing, according to Suits.

Police continue to investigate the other car found in the water.

Dennis Watters, with Watters' Search and Recovery says the vehicle was found 50 feet from the shore.

He says whoever was driving was driving at a fast rate of speed.

Authorities have been looking for Brown since he went missing in late December. He has been added to the website for The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.

Kyle Brown, 19, left his home in his mother's car the morning of December 28 and hasn't been heard from since. He was driving a black 2001 Honda CRV.

The vehicles found were off of Dutton Chapel Road in the Shawnee National Forest.

Illinois State Police is investigating with the help of the Saline County Sheriff's Department, the Pope County Sheriff's Department and the Harrisburg Police Department.
