Graves Co. Sheriff's Office 'paying it forward'

GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

Getting pulled over in one Kentucky county could lead to a free meal on Saturday or Sunday, April 18-19.

In light of recent negative news regarding members of law enforcement, the Graves County Sheriff said he plans on bringing a bit of positivity to the streets.

On April 18-19, some folks who get pulled over will be getting gift certificates instead of traffic tickets.

Deputies will be giving $5 gift cards to McDonald's to drivers going the speed limit, using their turn signals, wearing their seat belts or "just because."

In a post on the department's Facebook page, Sheriff Dewayne Redmon said "it's a nice way to say thank you for just being a good citizen."

Redmon said he'll also be challenging other departments to join in.
