Low Birth Rate Initiative meeting in Scott County, MO

MINER, MO (KFVS) -

The 17th annual Low Birth Weight Partnership Initiative took place in Miner, Missouri on Friday, April 17.

In an effort to bring attention to low birth weight in babies, Healthcare providers talked about options women and their male counterparts can take to prevent the problem from happening to them.

Doctors call it a big issue in society today, even though it can be prevented.

“It is so important because one baby too small is one too many and often some of these babies don't make it from the NIC Unit. That is why it is so important why we keep the education awareness campaign in the community year round,” said Cynthia Dean, Missouri Bootheel Healthy Start.

Of the guest speakers, Green Bay Packers, Letroy Guion was there and shared his experience as a parent of four.
