Burglary leads to pursuit, man charged


Graves County Sheriff Dewayne Redmon says on Friday morning his office received a call of a burglary in progress at the old Cardinal Drive Inn. 

The caller claimed they had witnessed a person leaving the business carrying boxes. 

When the man realized that he had been caught, he fled in a silver minivan. 

The caller followed the van and was able to get a license plate number. 

The van came back to 44-year-old Bryan Dillon of Mayfield. 

Deputies found the van on Housman Street and a pursuit followed. 

The van continued through the parking lot of Boyd's store at a high rate of speed, where a someone was almost hit by the vehicle.

The van then left the roadway and cut through the parking lot of Driver Motors before he was stopped. 

The driver of the van was identified as Dillon, and items from the business were recovered. 

Dillon was charged with burglary 3rd degree, tampering with physical evidence, fleeing or evading police 1st degree (motor vehicle), reckless driving, wanton endangerment 1st degree, and wanton endangerment 1st degree (police officer).

Deputies were assisted by the Kentucky State Police/Vehicle Enforcement, Kentucky State Police, and Mayfield Police Department.
