April 17 is National Donate Life Blue & Green Day

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - The families of Kaden Robert, Nick Holt, and Dominic Hooper are teaming up, and asking you to "green" and "blue up" this month to remind others about the importance of organ donation.

April is "Donate Life Month" and April 17 is "Donate Life Day".

Dominic Hooper of Scott City was 17 when he was killed an ATV accident in February of 2014.

Through organ donation Dominic's legacy lives on in the lives of five individuals. His family says Dominic's story has inspired many people to register as organ donors.

16-year-old Nick Holt of Malden passed away in July of 2014 in a car accident. He also was an organ donor, and a memorial fund in his name raises money for St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

Kaden Robert, 15 of Benton, Missouri, was accidentally shot in the head  in June of 2014. He was a basketball player at Kelly High School, and donated his organs to help others live.

Donate Life America encourages people on National Donate Life Day to wear blue and green, and hold events and fundraisers to get the word out about the success of organ and tissue donation, and the extreme need for registered donors.
