DEXTER, MO (KFVS) -

Students in Dexter, Missouri took part in a very visual lesson on Thursday.

Students from both the middle school and high school took part in a “mock crash.”

Here's the scenario: a drunk driver collides with a driver who was texting. People portrayed some “serious injuries.”

“The kids are having a blast it puts a good face on the department with the kids because they get to see how we work,” Dexter Officer Lori O'Dell, said. “I know everybody is curious when they see and accident and they would like to stop and watch it, this is their chance to do that and see what happens. On the other side it's teaching them the message about drunk and distracted driving.”

Organizers say they hope demonstrations like this one will hammer the point home that drunk and distracted driving is just too dangerous.
