Man accused of stealing gin company work truck

SCOTT COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

A South Carolina man is accused of stealing a vehicle and more in Scott County, Missouri.

Ryan A. McManus, 18, of Lancaster, was charged with stealing a motor vehicle, possession of a controlled substance and possession of alcohol by a minor.

Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter said that on Monday, April 13 deputies responded to the Vanduser Gin Company on Hamilton Street in Vanduser, Mo. for a report of a stolen work truck.

He said the truck was later found in a ditch near Advance, Mo. by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

On Tuesday, April 14 deputies were called back to the Gin Company after McManus was found on the property.

Sheriff Walter said McManus allegedly admitted to stealing the work truck and wrecking it near Advance.

According to Walter, narcotic prescription pills and a bottle of alcohol were allegedly found in McManus' backpack.

Deputies arrested McManus and took him to the Scott County Jail. His bond was set at $2,500 cash only.
