BUTLER COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

The Butler County, Missouri Sheriff's Department was involved in a high-speed chase on Tuesday, April 14.

The suspect, Sammy Redmond, of Qulin, was eventually taken into custody.

He was booked on two counts of first degree assault on law enforcement officers, felony property damage, felony resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance and numerous misdemeanor charges.

According to Butler County Sheriff Mark Dobbs, it was a long vehicle chase that started around 3 p.m. in the Fisk area and ended in a foot pursuit.

Dobbs said the chase started after officers caught up with him because he was wanted on misdemeanor traffic violations.

A deputy's cruiser was rammed during the chase.

According to Dobbs, Redmond allegedly nearly ran over the deputies and other law enforcement when the officers got out of their vehicle.

Sheriff Dobbs said Redmond was found in the woods not far from where he was being chased on foot.

He said this is the second time they've chased Redmond in a week.
