WILLIAMSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - A full-scale tornado exercise is set to test severe weather response procedures throughout Williamson County and at Lincoln School in Johnston City.

Months of planning and personnel involvement have allowed the severe weather exercise to happen.

Residents may see emergency response teams and their vehicles participating in the exercise on the roads near Lincoln School, Route 13, Herrin Hospital, and Heartland Regional Hospital. Participating agencies will also role-play during the exercise.

Williamson County encourages families to think about what they should do in case they should face severe weather such as tornado, flash floods, large hail, and damaging winds.

Consider developing a family severe weather plan to handle such emergencies. Williamson County EMA encourage families to come out on April 18 to practice your family emergency plan.

For more information about severe weather or weather radios please contact Williamson County Emergency Management Agency at 618-998-2123.
