Life Hacks: How to clean your home with food products

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Bananas, lemons, and walnuts…those are just some of the foods that are said to help you clean your house. Before heading to the store for cleaning products, you might want to try these foods first.

1) Lemons and water to clean your microwave - for directions click here.

2) Lemons and salt to clean your kitchen sink – sprinkle salt on half a lemon and scrub your sink and faucet, rinse with water.

3) Banana peels to polish silverware - for directions click here.

4) Walnuts to remove scratches on wood - rub the walnut on the scratch, wait ten minutes, then buff with a clean cloth.

5) Coke to remove rust.

6) Baking soda and vinegar to clean about anything, especially the toilet.
