Ava man sentenced after high speed chase

JACKSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - An Ava man was sentenced to probation after leading police on a high speed chase.

Jacob Bramlett was sentenced to two years and six months probation for aggravated fleeing to elude.

On November 29, 2014, Ava police officers were conducting stationary traffic patrol on Illinois Route 4 near Campbell Hill. Around 100 p.m., the officers noticed a white Chevrolet traveling toward them at a high rate of speed.

Officers activated their radar device and measured the vehicle's speed in excess of 100 mph. The posted speed limit in that area was 55 mph. The officers then began pursuit of the vehicle towards Campbell Hill. The vehicle failed to yield to the officer's lights and sirens and continued to increase its speed as it entered Campbell Hill.

A short time later, the officers found the vehicle parked in the parking lot of the St. Lutheran Church in Campbell Hill.

The officers conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Jacob Bramlett.

In addition to the probation Bramlett must pay $600 in fines.
