PINCKNEYVILLE, IL (KFVS) - A southern Illinois man was found guilty of second degree murder Friday in Perry County, Illinois.

That is according to State's Attorney David Stanton.

The state's attorney says William Farnsworth of Coulterville, Illinois was found guilty at a stipulated bench trial in front of Judge Gene Gross.

Farnsworth pleaded guilty to DUI at the same hearing.

Sentencing for the the murder charge is set for June 5.

According to Perry County Sheriff Keith Kellerman, deputies and a Pinckneyville ambulance were called to a home on Goldenrod Road in Coulterville around 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7.

He said they found the 51-year-old man dead in his vehicle as a result of an apparent gunshot wound.

The prosecutor told the court that in exchange for the defense agreeing to a stipulated bench trial, he will seek a 12 year capped sentence.

The court is not bound to that 12 years.
