NEW MADRID COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

A New Madrid County teacher is accused of possession of child pornography.

New Madrid County Sheriff Terry Stevens says the charge stems from a report involving a student in the New Madrid County School District.

Amy R. Walker, 36, of Lilbourn, Missouri is charged with one count of possession of child pornography.

On April 1, an investigator with the sheriff's office investigated allegations of a middle school teacher sending nude photos to a 17-year-old high school student.

The mother of the student provided the sheriff with a voluntary statement.

She said that her son told her he received three nude pictures from Walker, a middle school teacher.

The pictures were found by the student's girlfriend, while looking through his phone.

The pictures were sent using an Instagram account.

In an interview on April 1 with investigators, Walker admitted sending the student three nude pictures, according to the probable cause statement.

The student told investigators he started receiving Instagram messages from the teacher the previous week. The conversation was about general things, but eventually became "flirty."

Walker also admitted to receiving an inappropriate picture from the teen, according to the probable cause statement.

Walker waived formal arraignment on Thursday.

According to court documents, her bond was reduced from $15,000 to $10,000 and she posted bond.

Special conditions of that bond include: No Unsupervised contact with minors that are not family related.

Walker is due back in court June 29 at 10 a.m.

We talked to some parents today who were outraged.

"We send our kids to school to get an education. We don't send 'em to get sext," parent Mary Ann Simmons said.

"It just makes me outraged that people would do this," parent Kevin Dawson said. "The school needs to get this under control for our kids' safety. It just makes me sick to my stomach. Do you even really know people anymore?"
