CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) -

A 5K race in Carbondale will benefit the Good Samaritan Ministries Food Pantry and Soup Kitchen.

The Neighborhood Co-op Grocery's 17th Annual Nutrition 5K & Kid K will take place on Saturday, April 18 at Evergreen Park.

The 5K race begins at 9:00 a.m. and the Kid-K race starts at 9:45 a.m.

You can pre-register for the race here or pick up a registration form at the Co-Op.

The first 60 participants will get a special goodie bag.

If you want to register the day of the race, registration runs from 7:45-8:45 a.m. It costs $15 for Co-op owners at $18 for non-owners.

The Kid-K will have different categories based on age.

The half-pint race is for 2-5 year olds. The true blue race is for kids 6 to 8, and kids 9 to 12 will take part in the Mile High. Registration is free for the Kid-K.

You can pay $7 if your child would like a Cheeky Monkey lunch sack. It's a program the Co-op hosts to promote healthy eating habits.
