Gas leak shuts down main road in Murphysboro

MURPHYSBORO, IL (KFVS) - The main road through Murphysboro was blocked off due to a gas leak on Wednesday.

A construction crew working in the area hit a gas line in front of the Huck's convenience store, according to the Murphysboro Police Department.

This is on Walnut Street/149 that runs through town.

Fire officials say 19th - 21st St. have opened back up in Murphysboro. 

Officials say they were able to stop the leak. Crews are now working on repairs.
