Cards win season opener over rival Cubs

CHICAGO (KFVS) -

There's nothing quite like opening day baseball. Especially starting out with a win.

The St. Louis Cardinals got that and some quality pitching as they opened the 2015 season with a 3-0 win tonight in Chicago.

Adam Wainwright pitched six scoreless innings with six strikeouts for the Cardinals.  Matt Holliday drove in two runs while Matt Carpenter had two hits. Also, former Atlanta Brave Jason Heyward, acquired in the off season from Atlanta, had three hits in his Cardinals debut.

The two teams will play again on Tuesday, April 7th at 7:05pm in Chicago.
