JACKSON, MO (KFVS) -

Hundreds of children were on the hunt to gather Easter eggs at the Connection Point Church in Jackson, Missouri on Sunday.

After each service on Saturday and Sunday, the church gathered the children together to witness skydivers and eggs drop from a helicopter.

Thousands of parents and children looked to the sky as two skydivers from SEMO Skydiving out of Cairo, Illinois dropped the eggs from the helicopter at around 5,000 feet.

The skilled skydivers landed on the targeted painted egg on the ground.

Afterwards, the helicopter circled back around and dumped 2,000 eggs for each event for the children to collect.

An egg hunt was held for toddlers as well.

Excited screams and laughter filled the air as children picked up as many eggs they could find.

After children collected the eggs, they were reunited with their parents where they traded the eggs for treat bags.

The bags are filled with candy, games, gift certificates and goodies.

Children said it was a lot of fun but remembered the reason why they celebrate Easter.

Pastors with the Connection Point Church say it's important to understand the reason behind Easter and taught that in their services.

Pastors also say it's a day to have fun and be together with family.

Pastors say the Easter egg hunts were a great way to help celebrate.
