CHARLESTON, MO (KFVS) -

Teachers at Charleston Middle School are working hard to prepare students for their futures.

The sixth grade career class took a field trip to the Sikeston Career and Technology Center on March 9.

Twelve students from Shelley Helmes' homeroom were introduced to various training programs offered for occupations like engineering, nursing, early childhood education, graphic arts and auto repair.

Students were told what to do in seventh and eighth grade to be prepared for high school.

The CMS College and Career Club took a field trip on March 31 to Three Rivers College and SCTC.

Nineteen students took a tour of Three Rivers campus to preview college life.

For many, it was their first time visiting a college.

Upon visiting SCTC, students were again introduced to various training programs offered at this facility.

These efforts were sponsored by Susan Collier (Career Class teacher) and CMS Counselor Jennifer Dement.
