Illinois concert promoter charged with theft of services

SPARTA, IL (KFVS) - A southern Illinois man wanted for allegedly taking thousands of dollars from a Sparta business turned himself into police.

Alex Flores, a concert promoter, turned himself into the Randolph County jail on Wednesday, February 5.

Flores was charged with three counts of theft of labor service after he allegedly failed pay a Sparta business for thousands of dollars of catering services from an event in 2014.

The City of Sparta loaned more than $40,000 from the City of Sparta to Flores for him to organize concerts for the city's 175th Fourth of July event in 2014, Sparta Mayor Jason Schlimme said.

Mayor Schlimme said the City of Sparta plans to file a law suit against Flores within the week to recover the funds.
