Accounting students from Southern Illinois University Carbondale will be preparing taxes for people in the community each weekend through April 15.

It's all apart of an IRS program called the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program or VITA.

You may qualify for the program if you make less than $35,000 a year and have no deductions.

SIUC accounting professor emeritus, Raymond Wacker, says the program is designed to help lower income people file their taxes.

Qualified people may bring their tax forms into the Rehn Hall on SIUC campus from 8 a.m. to Noon on Saturdays through April 15.

Students are preparing simple tax income returns and will send them in to the IRS website.
