Soledad O'Brien speaks at Southeast MLK Celebration Dinner

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Soledad O'Brien spoke on Wednesday at Southeast State University at the Martin Luther King Celebration Dinner.

O'Brien is a an award winning journalist who launched the Starfish Media Group in June 2013. 

She spoke with Southeast students and members of the community about the vision of Martin Luther King Jr., saying how his words still have an impact today. 

She has done many documentaries in the past, many of which include issues about race. 

Her most recent one called "Black in America: Black & Blue," discusses race relations between African American men and the police department in New York City.

The event started at 6 p.m. at the Show Me Center.
