5 flown from crash on Hwy 21 in Washington Co., MO

WASHINGTON COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

Five people had to be flown from the scene of a crash on Highway 21 in Washington County, Missouri Tuesday morning, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

According to Sgt. Al Nothum, the crash happened around 8 a.m. as a vehicle pulled out of Cannon Mines Road and pulled into the path of a vehicle driving north on Highway 21.

The vehicle going north on Highway 21 hit the other vehicle in the side, Nothum said.

The five people injured were flown from the scene in five different medical helicopters. A woman, man, and 9-year-old girl all from Potosi had serious injuries. Two women in the other vehicle had moderate injuries, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Officials shut down the road for about an hour, but the site is now clear and traffic is moving normally through the area.
