Sheriff's office investigating after shots fired at eastern MO home

POTOSI, MO (KFVS) - An eastern Missouri sheriff's office is investigating after shots were fired inside a home.

According to Washington County sheriff Andy Skiles, on Jan. 8 around 2:30 a.m., deputies were called to a home on Hwy. 8 West in reference to an alarm going off.

Deputies found a locked gate leaded to the home and walked for about a mile to the home.

Once at the home, deputies heard a single gunshot in the area of the home.

Deputies then announced themselves before another shot was fired.

Deputies took cover and then waited for more law enforcement to arrive.

The scene was secured by officers and no suspects or vehicles were found around the home.

The sheriff's office is asking for anyone with information in reference to this incident to please contact them at 573-438-5478 or Central Dispatch 573-438-1079.
