SCOTT CITY, MO (KFVS) -

The Scott County sheriff's office says a man was taken into custody on a felony traffic charge after found wandering around a property on US 61.

Curtis Lee Winchester, 31, of St. Charles, Missouri was charged with driving while revoked.

Sheriff Rick Walter says on Saturday, January 3, shortly after 6:15 p.m., a deputy went to home on U.S. Highway 61 in Scott County. The caller said an unknown man was walking around on the caller's property.

While on the scene, the officer learned Winchester's license was revoked. There was a vehicle parked in the driveway of the home.

Winchester told the deputy that the vehicle's owner had driven the vehicle there and he was a passenger. He said they had stopped to get a WiFi signal and that the keys had been lost while they were out walking around. Winchester said that he was looking for the keys, and the driver had left.

The owner of the vehicle said that the vehicle had been loaned to Winchester in St. Charles, and that Winchester was supposed to return it the next day.

Winchester was taken to the Scott County Jail. Bond was set by the court at $750.00 cash only.
