Tow companies prepare for New Year's Eve

New Year's Eve means more impaired drivers on the road and Illinois State Police officers say they will be out in full force in southern Illinois on the lookout for those drivers.

It's also a busy night for towing companies.

Some companies are urging partygoers to have a plan to avoid drinking and driving, especially in potentially icy road conditions.

Over the years, Andy's Garage and Towing more people have taken that advice, making for a quiet night.

“The things that you expect I guess is drunk drivers or DUI's or whatever. I expect it to be kind of slow like it was last year and I kind of expect it to be that way this year,” said Andy Harris

The business will be open around the clock New Year's Eve.

Harris credits an increase in fines someone has to pay if given a DUI for the reason people choose to not drink and drive.
