POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) -

The VFW Post 3174 Auxiliary of Sikeston, Missouri recently teamed with the Smith Avenue Church of God youth group to make a donation to homeless Veterans through the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.

According to a news release from the VA, the youth group along with the ladies auxiliary donated $1000 for homeless Veterans. The VFW Auxiliary donated household items.

The youth group directors are Carolyn Day and Paulette Sandefer.

In addition, the VFW Post 6477 recently made a donation to the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center's Care and Share program.

They provided 170 holiday food baskets to veterans in need.

“We appreciate the assistance from the VFW for this event," said Donna Reynolds, services officer. "Care and Share provides a much needed holiday meal for a veteran and his or her family, and it would not be possible without such generosity.”
